The rest of the morning was quiet as the orphans browsed calmly up until eleven o'clock when Vaarti led the first group to the mud bath. The orphans had their milk, then settled for wallowing. Kibo joined them briefly before disappearing to an undisclosed location. Lenana and Lapa stood under a tree and watched the orphans as they enjoyed a soil-dusting exercise.
In the afternoon, the orphans settled to browse west of Ithumba Hill. At four o'clock in the evening, the orphans visited the roadside mud bath for an evening cooling-off exercise. Later, Naleku led the way back to the stockade.

The clear sky indicated a hot day ahead.
Two male kudus passed close by and were spotted by Larro and Roho. The orphans charged and trumpeted to scare them away. The two antelopes ran off to avoid a confrontation. Bondeni, Kinyei, and Kindani moved a bit away from their colleagues to enjoy feeding without the rest of the group. Lodo settled to share lucerne with Kasigau and later threatened Milo when he passed by and stepped on his lucerne. Olorien had a disagreement with Iman and decided to sort it out physically. Nusu, who was nearby, came forward and intervened by pushing the two girls away.
Later, Vaarti led the way to the browsing field, where Suguroi teamed up with Kinyei, while Naleku settled to browse with Roho. Bondeni, Esoit, and Mayan came across loose soil that they used for dusting, while Mukkoka, Sattao, and Lodo browsed a little distance away from the rest. A short while later, Mulika surprised everyone when she showed up with a little baby boy. Amazingly, there was no excitement at all when Mulika arrived with her young one. Even her eldest daughter, Mwende, Mala, and Mkuu were not present. After feeding on lucerne, Kuishi led the way to the browsing field. Siku and Sunyei volunteered to be the nannies of Moe.

Chyulu, Charli, Cheka, Bomani, Chaimu, Chapa, Nasalot, Nusu, Noah, Sidai, Silas, and Sid reported early in the morning. The orphans were let out soon after taking their milk and joined the ex-orphans to feed on lucerne. Vaarti had a misunderstanding with Noah that led to a serious fight. The fight between the two boys ended in a draw, though if it had continued, Noah might have won. Later, Kuishi led the way to the browsing field.

It was a quiet morning with only Tumaren, Tembo, Kenze, Karisa, and one wild bull joining the orphans for lucerne feeding. They checked for any available leftover branches and, luckily, managed to find some good enough to enjoy feeding on. Kuishi joined her former friends—Mapia, Ambo, and Kauro, who had arrived in the morning for water and lucerne—in drinking water. After exchanging pleasantries with Kuishi, Kauro, Mapia, and Ambo went to join the rest of the herd to feed on lucerne.
Larro shared her pile of lucerne with Kaia, while Vaarti stood close to Mala, who was nursing from her mother, Mwende. Vaarti stretched his trunk toward Mala's mouth, trying to get a taste of the milk that she seemed to be enjoying so much. Unfortunately, Vaarti didn’t manage to get even a drop, so he gave up and walked away. The orphans then settled to browse around the Kone area, enjoying a quiet morning.
At eleven o'clock, Naleku led the first group to the mud bath. With the sun scorching, the orphans jumped into the water for a cooling off right after having their milk. They were joined by Kilaguni, and all enjoyed wallowing for quite some time. When they’d had enough, Mayan led the way out of the mud bath. In the afternoon, the orphans continued browsing west of Ithumba Hill.
In the evening, Moe slipped into the water trough, and Mulika tried unsuccessfully to help him out. Kama and Kinna also made attempts but couldn’t manage to free him. Finally, the keepers intervened and were able to help Moe out. The ex-orphans remained calm throughout, knowing the situation was in hand.
The orphans then stopped at the roadside mud bath for an evening cool-off, and afterward, Naleku led the way back to the stockade.
