On the 24th October The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trusts Tsavo Mobile Veterinary Unit (Funded by Vier Photen) was called upon to rescue a young elephant stuck at the Aruba borehole, in Tsavo East National Park. The rest of the herd looked distressed, yet were unable to help. When eventually they moved off our team were able to pass ropes around the thighs of the elephant, who sensed they were trying to help, and the animal was then pulled with a vehicle and successfully extracted. He was able to join up with the rest of the herd who remained close by.
