Many parts of Lake Naivasha and the Central Rift Conservation Area have received sporadic showers, but generally the region is experiencing a dry spell, with both pasture and browse being less available for animals.
The SWT/KWS Rift Valley Mobile Veterinary Unit visited many areas during October, including; Lake Nakuru NP, Manera Farm, Gilgil – Kamathatha area, Lentolia, Lake Bogoria, Ruko Conservancy, and Oserengoni Wildlife Sanctuary. Trhoughout the month the Unit conducted general routine clinical case work and security patrols, while also taking part in coordinated efforts to ear notch, and fit transmitters, to black and white rhinos in Lake Nakuru National Park: this work assists in the protection of Kenya's rhino population.
