During the month of February 2020, the SWT/KWS Mount Kenya Veterinary Unit attended to many wildlife cases in the Laikipia ecosystem and Mount Kenya region that required urgent intervention.
Some of the wildlife veterinary cases attended included; the treatment of several mountain bongo at the Mt Kenya Wildlife Conservancy, the de-snaring of a Rothschild giraffe, assisting a lion cub with a fractured vertebral column, the rescue of an elephant stuck in a valley, treatment of an elephant bull with a dislocation of the right carpal joint and de-snaring of a zebra. These cases are detailed in the monthly report, along with all interventions carried out by the team during the month.
