During November, the Mount Kenya Mobile Veterinary Unit attended to many wildlife cases that required urgent intervention in the Laikipia ecosystem and Mt. Kenya region.
These cases included the treatment of an adult male white rhino with a forelimb injury in Ol Pejeta Conservancy and a female rhino in Ol Jogi Conservancy, as well as translocation of a rhino from Lewa Conservancy to Ol Pejeta. A female bongo was treated for a prolapsed vagina, three bongos were relocated to a new enclosure and a post-mortem was conducted on a male bongo within the Mt. Kenya Wildlife Conservancy. A spear was removed from an elephant in Ol Malo, a lion was collared in Loisaba and an investigation into the deaths of vultures was conducted.
