Continuous rains bestowed the Mara with massive grass sprouts and abundant surface water, much to the delight of the ecosystem's wildlife.
Unfortunately, outside the reserve, there was an uptick in human-wildlife conflict and poaching cases. After getting caught in the crosshairs, wildlife retreat to the conservancies and Maasai Mara National Reserve. After receiving reports from tourists and rangers, the Mara Unit treated a number of speared, arrowed, and snared patients over the course of the month. Efforts are ongoing to promote peaceful coexistence between wildlife and local communities.
