Two injured elephants and the treatment of an injured lion were among the cases attended by the Unit this month.
The period under review remained dry with forage and water for wildlife utilization diminishing. Most wildlife were found in riverine areas where there is still some good vegetation for herbivores and water for their use. Among the cases attended included a young black rhino male involved in a territorial conflict with an older male in Mara Triangle leading to his death. The Unit also participated in the rescue of an elephant calf which was transported to the Nairobi Nursery in the SWT helicopter, and the treatment of two elephants for human-related injuries, as well as the treatment of a lion injured in a fight with other males.
