Our quarterly report for April to June, a period that included the SWT conducting 16 field trips for school children and work with farmers on maintaining their beehive fencelines.
Through April and June 2019 the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (SWT) carried out 16 School Trips in Tsavo West National Park, with school children from the communities neighbouring the Tsavo ecosystem. These trips afford children an opportunity to witness wildlife and learn about different species and the importance of protecting wild animals and habitats. The SWT Community Officer also continued to work closely with farmers, against whose land we have erected beehive fencelines, helping to ensure that the hives they manage are healthy and remain effective in mitigating human-elephant conflict.
