39 SNARES COLLECTED
Findings
The Team, as in previous months, started by patrolling the Trust land and its surrounding areas. This month we concentrated our efforts at the Mtito River, downstream from Ngiluni, where a large number of wildlife can be found as they cross the river from the park in search of water. We lifted 32 small snares, which target small animals such as Dikdiks, during our patrols. We were also able to lift 7 large snares, targeting big animals such as buffalos.
We have seen an increase in the amount of wildlife that can be found in the Trust land. The area was recently visited by a grown female Giraffe and her baby. They stayed at the Trust airfield for a period of one and a half weeks. They were unfortunately chased away by a pride of lions.
