The Kenze Team operates in the Kibwezi Forest and the northern sector of the Chyulu Hills National Park, as well as the surrounding community areas and ranches.
Illegal activities encountered here include snaring for the bushmeat trade, marijuana cultivation, livestock encroachment and cutting of trees for timber and to make charcoal. Cases of human-wildlife conflict are common here, where roaming elephants stray in neighbouring community farms and have to be driven back into the safety of the National Park. This report provides an overview of the activity of all our De-Snaring Teams in March 2020, with a more detailed description of the Kenze Team's operational activities in the period.
