Findings

This month the team was based at the Mtito gate so as to cover major snaring hotspots. Most of the water holes visited harbored no snares and areas that were close to the railway lines did have snares. A total of 219 snares were collected and three poachers were captured and arrested. The majority of snares were collected close to the town. In Tsavo west, tree felling and charcoal burning was very high especially in Inumbani area and so in the triangle of Tsavo east

Community

The community project ended on a high note with Thunguni primary school benefiting with an educational trip to Tsavo west national park, sponsored by Safaricom. The children were delighted and for some it was a first time. Other schools were shown wildlife video shows and took part in sporting events.
